2007/05/10
Based on earlier reporting by Health Day News
What to expect Caesarean section, also called C-section, is a surgical procedure in which a baby is removed from the womb through an incision in the mother's abdomen. Here is what to expect after a C-section delivery: - The pain is typically worst on the first day after surgery, then it should begin to subside.
- Vaginal discharge is normal.
- Drink plenty of water each day -- between eight and 10 glasses.
- Avoid lifting heavy objects and climbing stairs.
- Don't drive until you can wear a seat belt comfortably.
- Call your doctor if the incision site becomes red and swollen.
