Painful swallowing is a common sign

Here are some of the common warning signs of an ear infection in children of various ages:

  • Pain or discomfort in the ear, indicated by touching or pulling at the ear in a younger child.
  • Pain while lying down, chewing or sucking, which may lead to reduced appetite or difficulty sleeping.
  • Fluid draining from the ear.
  • Difficulty hearing.
  • Fever, dizziness, nausea
